Description
A heavy brass-plated box with richly embossed details on all sides has colorful cobalt blue enamel lid with painted gily scrolls and pastel flowers, centering an oval pop-up lid on which is an enameled scene of two court ladies and gentleman languidly relaxing in the field with three sheep nearby. When wound and lever released, a brilliantly feathered bird pops up from his filigree bed with cut-out bird shape. The bird turns from side to side, fluttering its wings and tail feathers and opening and closing its mouth as though singing. The bird issues a series of bird songs. There is a very fancy key with figural bird in the center.
