Description

An elaborately carved walnut pedestal base with three curved feet has an unusually-shaped top with diamond-cut edges. The entire top surface is covered with a rich needlework tapestry and edged with a harmonious wool fringe. There is a hinge on the underside allowing the table to be displayed with the top tilted or flat, making it a superb display table for an important automata. There is an original paper label on the underside indicating its creation by the firm of Nortier located in the wealthy Paris suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine. Circa 1890.
