24" Beast, 31" Beauty. Each porcelain doll portrays the theatrical figure, the beast with brown complexion and deeply wizened features, glazed brown eyes to simulate glass, sculpted open mouth with two fangs, very thick human hair, muslin body, bisque hands with elongated fingers and feet with painted two-tone shoes, wearing tweed pants, richly feathered collar; the beauty with blue glass inset eyes, real lashes, delicately painted features, closed mouth, brunette human hair, shapely muslin body, bisque lower arms and legs with sculpted fancy high heeled shoes, very elaborate ivory crepe gown with lace and flower appliques, taffeta petticoat and pantalets. The beast is signed "Vlasta 11", and there is a paper label on the beauty "Vlasta Dolls, Original Pat Thompson sculpture #6 series of 100, Beauty and the Beast 75, 2/20". The pair were #2 from an edition of 20 sets created in the mid-1980's in the studio of the Illinois artist Pat Thompson.
