Description
16" (41 cm.) x 11" box. A firm-sided box labeled "Confection Layette Machine a Coudre" in gilt lettering on the lid, hinges open to never-removed original contents centered by a tin toy sewing machine which is surrounded by ribbon-wrapped fabrics, threads, trims, buttons, and an instruction manual for teaching children to sew. The inside lid of the box is fitted with white pique bebe costume still tied to original backing. Contents are excellent, box is sturdy but paper cover is worn. French, circa 1890.
