Pressed bisque shoulder head with perfect-oval face, elongated throat with defined throat hollow, almond-shaped cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, slightly parted pale accented lips with hint of smile, two rows of tiny porcelain teeth, unpierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, delicate blush on eyelids, cheeks, chin and ears, kid poupee body with shapely torso, gusset-jointed legs, kid upper arms, bisque arms to above elbows, expressively sculpted fingers, antique undergarments, silk gown included. Condition: generally excellent, few kid patches on body. Marks: E 5 Depose B. Comments: Eugene Constant Barrois, the depose marking indicates that the head model was registered, circa 1865,an identical model with closed mouth is shown in Encyclopedia of French Dolls, page 51. Value Points: very rare portrait poupee with exquisite quality of bisque head and hands, original body.
