28" (71 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head of older boy with slightly elongated throat and face, black sculpted hair in short tousled curls with stippling detail at the forehead, black enamel inset eyes, sculpted ears, impressed eyeliner, fringed brows, well-shaped nose, closed mouth, muslin stitch-jointed body, wonderful antique costume. Condition: good, original finish on face and hair except back of hair appears to be patched and repainted, otherwise typical rubs only. Comments: Germany, circa 1840. Value Points: outstanding detail of sculpting of hair and facial features.
