Pale pressed bisque swivel head in kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, unique cut-out of bisque around the upper edge of face to indicate wig placement, oval face with strong definition of features, slightly elongated throat with full chin, aquiline nose, small blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, short painted brows, arched feathered brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with outlined accented pale lips, pierced ears with superb detail of sculpting, hair implanted into scalp along the cut- out lines, kid gusset-jointed poupee body, wearing antique gold brocade and lace gown with embroidered detail (additional antique gown included.) Condition: generally excellent, tiny faint line on right shoulderplate under kid body, small chip at left back corner of shoulder plate under kid body, body appropriately sized and of the period but not original. Marks: 8 Bte SGDG (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Leverd & Cie, his deposed system for realistic wig placement based upon a recessed cutout in the scalp, made for one or two years only, circa 1869. Value Points: extremely rare poupee in splendid large size whose rarity is rivaled by exceptional beauty and quality, the wig perfectly preserved, the bisque and painting superb.
