15" (38 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, almond shaped blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, poupee body of stretched kid over wood known as "baggy legs", with shapely torso, loose kid cover over hip jointing, dowel-jointed upper arms, bisque forearms. Condition: generally excellent, small paint discoloration above right eye. Marks: Sie C 3/0. Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1880, despite the rarity of this head appearing on poupee style body, the doll appears to be original. Value Points: wonderfully appealing poupee with gentle expression, rare body style is appropriate, wearing superb antique gown, undergarments, straw bonnet, shoes.
