28" (71 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head of lady with oval face, elongated throat, emphatic definition of bosom, beautifully defined ears, shaded dark brown/black sculpted hair with painted curly details at the sides of face, a crown of multiple rows of braids, clusters of curls at side, and coiled braid at nape, painted facial features, turquoise eyes, red and black eyeliner, heavily modeled eyelids, painted brows, sloping nose, closed mouth, original slender kid body, wooden lower limbs, fancily painted orange shoes with high laces, wearing original cotton print gown with detail stitching at the waist, lined bodice with hook closure on lining to allow fullness of outer layer. Condition: original finish with some flaking at edges of shoulderplate, kid left arm weak. Comments: attributed to Johann Friedrich Mueller, circa 1830. Value Points: very rare early paper mache with outstanding coiffure, ears, bosom, original costume, original finish.
