24" (61 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head of adult lady with oval face and elongated slender throat, very slightly modeled bosom, black sculpted hair in arranged curls at sides of head, centerpart front, and drawn onto the crown into tightly coiled double braids that encircle a three-arch decorative comb or looped curls, suggestion of ear modeling, painted facial features, small turquoise eyes, slender kid body, wooden lower arms and legs, painted green shoes with tiny beaded white button dots. Condition: good, back left corner of breastplate reglued, spiderweb lines at neck and breastplate, some body patching. Comments: Germany, circa 1840. Value Points: large early and very rare doll has fine original patina, superb coiffure, and wears original costume, the chemise hem faintly embroidered V1Met.
