17" (44 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head with elongated throat, black sculpted hair with arranged rolls at each side of center part, painted stippled curls onto the forehead, coiled braided chignon at back of head with modeled decorative comb, painted facial features, slender kid body, wooden lower limbs, painted red flat shoes, nicely costumed in plaid cotton gown, undergarments. Condition: restoration to back shoulder plate. Comments: Germany, circa 1850. Value Points: wonderful hair style and appealing facial expression with well- preserved original finish.
