18" (46 cm.) Pink-tinted porcelain head with flat-cut neck socket fitted to matching porcelain shoulder plate, allowing realistic swivel, Rohmer deposed neck attachment system with metal pin at pate, cobalt blue glass enamel eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips,blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid torso, kid-over-wood upper arms with dowel jointing, one piece porcelain lower arms to above the elbows, separately sculpted fingers, depose Rohmer legs to allow realistic posing whether sitting or standing with articulation at hips and knees, porcelain lower legs with bare feet. Condition: faint early hairline (glaze line?) on front shoulderplate, two fingers restored, left leg reglued in several places. Marks: (Rohmer stamp on front torso). Comments: Leontine Rohmer, circa 1860, the poupee exhibits several of that doll maker's remarkable deposed designs including the swivel neck attachment, and very rare body style. Value Points: very beautiful poupee with luminous porcelain having delicate complexion tint, rare features, and owning (probably original) antique muslin gown with elaborately tiered and ruffled skirt.
