Bisque socket head, brown glass sleep eyes, painted lashes, dark eye liner encircles the eye sockets, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, open mouth, two porcelain teeth, shaded and accented lips, brunette human hair, composition bent limb baby body, beautiful antique baby costume and rattle. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Q made in Germany 20 Germany JDK 1914 c. Hilda Ges Gesch N. 1070. Comments: Kestner, circa 1915. The life-size baby is presented in woven basket laid with antique blankets and pillows, and contains within its torso a mechanical device that when activated (electrical) allows the baby to realistically turn its head from side to side and wave its limbs in the air. Value Points: fabulous and rare presentation doll, likely appearing as promotional object in luxury baby boutique, circa 1920, the quality of the doll enhanced by well- functioning mechanism.
