5" (13 cm) Alice. Flat-dimensional carved figures
with hand-painted features and costumes,are pin-
hinged for infinite articulation,and represent
Alice holding the Pink Flamingo,and the White
Rabbit. Condition: generally excellent. Marks:
IFF (tiny hand-lettered on costume). Comments:
created and made by Ila Fifield of East
Calais,Vermont,circa 1940; the dolls are
described in the 1953 book The Dolls of Yesterday
by Eleanor St. George (copy attached). Value
Points: rare and delightful American figures in
perfectly preserved condition.
