Bisque socket head with uniquely shaped face, brown glass inset eyes, brown eyeliner, ochre shading around the eyes, tinted brows, accented nostrils of tiny nose, closed mouth with posed lips, carrot-red mohair wig, five piece paper mache toddler body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SFBJ 239 Paris Poulbot. Comments: the young urchin lad, designed by Parisian artist Poulbot, and representing the homeless orphans of Montmartre following WWI, closely resembled the children drawn in posters by the same artist. SFBJ, circa 1914, the dolls appeared in Paris department store catalogs for only 1 or 2 years. Value Points: a rare doll in perfectly preserved condition, with original wig, urchin costume, choice and unique complexion.
