16" (42 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head with portrait like expression and shape, on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with detailed sculpting of throat hollow and shoulder blades, almond shaped brown glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner encircles eye cuts, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, brunette human hair on cork pate, all-wooden fully articulated body, dowel jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, swivel jointed wrists, extra-swivel jointing at upper arms and legs, very shapely torso, ankles and hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: probably Pierre-Francois Jumeau, circa 1867, the model may be one of his series of portrait dolls described in his exhibit listing for the 1867 Paris Exposition Universelle. Value Points: extraordinary portrait poupee whose superb bisque and painting complements the portrait-like sculpting, rare deluxe quality wooden body, superb antique costume including gown, undergarments, bonnet, leather boots signed C.C.
