21" (54 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulder head with unusually small shoulder plate,brown painted hair drawn smoothly around the face and waved in front of ears,blue glass enamel inset eyes,painted eye liner and brows,aquiline nose,closed mouth with well-shaped lips,handmade silk-covered straw-filled body,paper mache hands,wooden lower legs with painted flat green shoes. Condition: very good,original facial finish albeit dusty. Comments: circa 1840,maker unknown. Value Points: very unusual early paper mache with glass eyes,brown hair,wonderful antique costume of patterned cotton fabrics,silk bonnet.
