Composition oversized rounded head and stomach, bald pate, sculpted large googly eyes with downcast pupils, wide beaming lips, impressed facial wrinkles, painted upper slanted brows, large bug ears, wooden arms and legs of very slender proportions, spring-jointing at shoulders and elbows, hands slightly cupped to hold objects, one piece very spindly wooden legs with oversized wooden feet, wearing cotton shirt with large bow tie and matching cuffs, green cap, brown trousers. Condition: excellent, early professional repainting, costume not original. Comments: Schoenhut, a series of the Brownies were exhibited by the firm at the 1899 National Export Exposition in Philadelphia, likely designed on special commission as promotional figures. Few are known to exist. Value Points: very rare early Schoenhut figure with most amusing characterization enhanced by the grand size.
