Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, narrow blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips and slightly smiling expression, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French all-wooden fully-articulated body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles, and swivel jointing at waist and upper legs, costume included. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: G. (head and shoulder plate). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1873, his smiling poupee model was deposed in that year. Value Points: superb all-original smiling Bru poupee, in rarer size, has outstanding bisque and painting, original wig, very refined sculpting of body with very shapely limbs, individually sculpted fingers, perfectly aligned dowel jointing, fine original body finish.
