Description
12" (30 cm.) Bisque head with flanged neck,sculpted brown hair in short bobbed fashion with forehead bangs,large blue glass sleep eyes,painted lashes,tinted brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with shaded and accented lips,muslin body,composition limbs with right thumb modeled as though for sucking,muslin costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Copr by Grace C. Rockwell Germany 1397/30. Comments: Germany,circa 1925,from a series of American-artist-designed dolls commissioned by Borgfeldt,the series included works by Drayton,Putnam Averill,Helen Jensen,Orsini and Kallus,this model designed by Grace Corry Rockwell is likely her model marketed as "Betty Jean" (later copyrighted as "Pretty Peggy"). Value Points: rare model with great characterization,fine quality bisque and painting.
