head,pressed and painted facial
features,small brown painted eyes with white
eye dots,brown painted upper lashes,grey eye
shadow,short brows,accented nostrils,closed
mouth with pouty expression,blonde mohair
curly wig,bent limb baby body,curled fingers.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Lenci
Made in Italy (paper tag). Comments:
Lenci,the model appeared as doll #1 in the
1930 Lenci catalog; it was simply described
as "mannequin" and shown only in chemise.
The model was likely designed to appeal to a
different market than the traditional
market,although,obviously,the Lenci firm
quickly realized its appeal to its doll buyer and
dressed the doll in their classic manner.
Value Points: extremely rare to find,the doll
wears her Lenci original pink organdy ruffled
dress,knit sweater and
booties,undergarments,pique cap,and felt
applique pastel flower trim.
