Description
17" (45 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged
bisque shoulder plate,slender facial model with
elongated throat,small blue glass enamel inset
eyes,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,lightly
feathered brows,accented eye corners and nostrils
of aquiline nose,ears pierced into head,closed
mouth with center accent line,blonde mohair wig
over cork pate,French kid gusset-jointed body
with stitched and separated fingers. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: L. Depose 4 D.
Comments: possibly Louis Dalloz,circa
1868,successor to the Blampoix firm,although the
mark has also been attributed to Louis Doleac.
Value Points: distinctive portrait face bearing
the initial LD and "depose" indicating the model
was a registered design,is very rare,enhanced
here by choice bisque and very clean original
body.
