13" (33 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head with slender
facial modeling and elongated throat,on kid-edged
bisque shoulder plate,angled almond-shaped brown
glass enamel inset eyes,painted short brown
lashes,feathered brows,accented eye corners and
nostrils,closed mouth with center accent
line,pierced ears,mohair queue over cork
pate,French kid gusset-jointed fashion body with
shapely torso,bisque hands,antique silk Asian
costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks:
E.B. (head) Au Paradis des Enfants (body stamp).
Comments: Eugene Constant Barrois,circa 1867,the
doll is shown in Encyclopedia of French
Dolls,page 51. Value Points: very rare model,of
which few examples are known to exist,with highly
characterized modeling,pale bisque enhanced by
umber tinted bisque on cheeks and chin,original
boutique label from luxury Parisian doll shop "Au
Paradis des Enfants".
