14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head with cut pate at top of crown,grey sculpted hair at sides and back of head,incised facial wrinkles,small brown painted eyes,thin red and black upper eyeliner,grey painted brows,strong crooked nose,closed mouth under pronounced bushy grey mustache,composition and wooden fully-jointed body,grey woolen suit. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Cuno and Otto Dressel,circa 1900,from their American heroes series,portrayed is Richmond Pearson Hobson,one of the great heroes of the Spanish-American War. Value Points: very rare portrait doll with excellent detail of characterization is also one of the few specifically male dolls of the era.
