Description

11" x 10" (28 x 25cm.) A hardbound book with embossed silver cover designs titled "Mother Goose of '83" features 9 "copper-plate photogravures, on Japan paper, reproduced from the original negatives of Mrs. N. Grey Bartlett", sold for the benefit of the Children's Building of the Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago. The book features classic children's rhymes and tales, accompanied by photographs of children playing make-believe, some with dolls. The book is inscribed to Margaret Eleanor Beckman from "Aunt Eleanor, From Children's Building, Chicago Exposition, August 1898". Excellent condition, included is promotional sheet describing the book, costing $2 or by mail $2.12,and the original (very worn) book jacket and base of original box.
