An opalescent mother-of-pearl egg-shaped case is edged with tooled-brass rim, and hinges open to reveal interior lined with red velvet and fitted to accommodate the tiny gold-plated sewing accessories that are arranged there: scissors, awl, needle case, needle threader and thimble. French, circa 1875. A superb and perfectly preserved sewing accessory.
