Description
14" x 10" (19" x 15" framed.) Oil painting on paper board portrays a young girl seated on ladder back spindled chair, holding a little doll in her folded arms. The girl has shaded brown hair pulled away from her face and held by a coral ribbon, wears a white dress with embroidered detail and coral beaded necklace and earrings. The doll wears a simple pinafore dress and bonnet. Inscribed at the bottom of the painting is the message "E. Lourdes a sa petite amie 1869" (presumably the name of the child, with her little friend). In gold lead wooden frame, the back boards have inscribed writing indicating a provenance from the region of Angevine. Excellent condition. French,1869.
