9" (23 cm.) Sitting upon a cardboard candy box is a small bisque-headed character doll, with double-faces; one face has a crying expression with blue glass squinting eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth modeled as though open; the alternate side depicts a solemn-faced child with blue glass inset eyes, painted facial features, and closed mouth; with muslin torso and upper limbs, bisque lower limbs, painted yellow socks and black shoes, cotton dress. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: the double-faced bebe head was created by Bru, designed for use as novelty features of candy box, circa 1890. Value Points: rare novelty doll in well-preserved condition.
