Bisque shoulder head with blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate,is attached to round ball with internal musical mechanism, and long stick handle designed for twirling at play. The ball and stick are covered in blue silk,and the marotte is costumed in blue and ivory silk with metallic gilt edging and silver ball, a clown cap on its head. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: head by Gaultier, circa 1890. Value Points: fine unplayed with condition including decorations such as sequins and white bead earrings, and contained in its original box labeled "1 piece Folie-Marotte, fantaisie, tete biscuit" and symbol of intertwined initial LD.
