14" (35 cm.) Bisque socket head, dark blue glass sleep eyes that operate from a wire lever at the back of the head, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brush stroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, open mouth, accented lips, pierced ears, lambs wool wig over Steiner pate, Steiner composition fully jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Ste C O (incised) J. Steiner SGDG J. Bourgoin Succ. (red ink script on head) (Steiner label on body portraying doll holding flag) Steiner 0 Bte SGDG (eyes). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1882. Value Points: appealing cabinet size of the rarer Steiner model with original pate, body, signed eyes, body finish, ivory silk dress and jacket, black leather shoes.
