24"h. painting. 34"h. frame. Oil painting on canvas portrays a plump young girl with brown curly tousled hair, well defined facial features and ears, wearing white shift and clasping a doll in her right hand, the doll having blonde hair with articulated arms visible. The background behind the child is pastoral with misty trees and sky. The painting is inscribed "L.L. Bressinard, Mlle Edith age a 18 mois". In original frame with wreath of leaves. Excellent condition, re-canvased. France, 1868.
