17" (45 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, unique neck articulation allowing the doll to tilt head from side to side and forward and back (as well as swivel),cobalt blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered arched brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, unpierced ears, kid body with shapely torso, gusset-jointed hips and knees, dowel-jointed kid-over-wooden upper arms, bisque lower arms with elbow jointing, delicately sculpted fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 4. Comments: Auguste Dehors, the particular system of head articulation, deposed by him in 1866 and awarded a bronze medal at l'Exposition Universelle in 1867,was designed to bring a realistic posing system to the doll. Value Points: rare deposed model with lovely pale bisque, contrasting bright eyes, sturdy body with bisque hands, original blue silk gown, undergarments, black slippers, bonnet.
