Description
5" (13 cm.) All-bisque standing Kewpie with jointed arms and right-glancing eyes is posed upon an oval cardboard base with flocked green finish. Kewpie has a coronet of flowers, gold-flocked paper wings, and stands alongside a pleated crepe paper basket with label "Forget me not" and pen-inscribed "Cara". The cardboard base is stamped "Manufactured at Normal Book Store, 617 W. 5 th St. Los Angeles, Cal." The delicate arrangement was a table novelty at a Springtime party such as May Day. The doll was made in Germany, the arrangement created in the studios of the Normal Book Store. Very few examples are known to still exist of the luxury party good.
