Description
20" (51 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered base is a bisque doll with blue glass eyes, painted lower lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, impressed dimples at philtrum and chin, pierced ears, auburn mohair wig, carton torso and legs, bisque forearms, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism functions a bit slowly. Marks: 1300-6 Simon & Halbig S&H (head) LB (key). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1895, the little girl holds a wooden bird cage in her right hand and a feathered bird perches on her left hand. When wound, she turns head side to side, and alternately lifts the cage, and then the bird, as though trying to convince the bird to re-enter his cage, two musical tunes play throughout. Value Points: charming automaton is beautifully presented.
