Description
13" (33 cm.) A bisque-headed doll with blue glass eyes and blonde mohair ringlet curls is attached to carved wooden upper torso, hollow ball lower torso with music box inside, and wooden hands, the entire posed upon a polished Maplewood stick handle. The doll is dressed in original ivory and rose silk harlequin style costume with silver fringe and bells, and with matching cap. When twirled around, the costume flaps merrily wave, and music is heard. Comments: for the French market, circa 1890. Value Points: superbly preserved marotte with unusually fine quality of music box.
