23" (59 cm.) One piece carved wooden head to torso with oval-shaped face, elongated throat, and shapely torso with tiny waist, painted facial features with sculpted definition of eye sockets, aquiline nose, full lips, delicate hemp wig, fabric covered wire armature arms with elegantly carved wooden hands, cage-shaped base under skirt, antique gown of silks and fine muslin with embroidery and metallic threads. Condition: good, some restoration under the chin. Comments: Early 19th century, remnants of German language papers under the cage. Value Points: appealing enigmatic expression of the early example of fashion doll, quite rare to find.
