Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass sleep eyes, mohair lashes, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, softly curled blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, one shoe missing. Marks: 79 5 Germany (and red stamp Wimpern mark). Comments: Handwerck, circa 1900. Value Points: near mint condition, the doll is wearing pristine original multi-layered costume including lace dress and undergarments, black stockings, black shoes, woven bonnet, and original paper label "A La Recompense Jouets...Paris" on body and one shoe. The doll is photographed and described in the book Through the Nursery Window by Lila Rait, page 105, and a copy of the book is included.
