Description
19" (48 cm.) overall. Standing upon a velvet covered wooden base is a bisque-head girl with brown glass paperweight inset eyes and closed mouth, blonde mohair wig, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, rose silk and lace costume and elaborate bonnet. In front of the girl is a wooden framed drum with elaborate braid perched upon a metal base, and when wound, the girl turns her head back and forth and alternately taps the drum and then the cymbal, in time to the music which plays in the background. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau 1 (doll). Comments: Roullet et Decamps, circa 1890. Value Points: rare and amusing automaton featuring doll with most beautiful face, well-functioning movements and music.
