A bisque-head doll with blue glass paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, open mouth, row of teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, carton torso and legs in seated position, wire upper arms, composition hands, is seated upon a maple wood chair, knitting held in her hands. When wound, the doll nods her head forward and back as though intently studying her handiwork, while her hands move back and forth as though knitting. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Roullet et Decamps, circa 1900, the piece was listed in their catalogs as "Tricoteuse" (knitting lady). Value Points: amusing and well- preserved automaton with well-functioning movements.
