15" (38 cm.) Bisque head with bright blue eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips,blonde mohair wig, on block torso with shaped humps at front and back torso, bisque hands, paper mache lower legs with shaped upturned toes on shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Polichinelle, the popular French figure of stories and legends in the 19 th century; several French firms specialized in creating dolls of this popular figure, circa 1890. Value Points: wonderfull preserved example wearing his original rose and aqua Polichinelle costume and hat trimmed with gold metallic fringe and braid, little bells.
