9" (23 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with very pale bisque, pale blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with slightly smiling expression, accented lips, auburn mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully- jointed body, straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: N 1 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, one of the first bebes offered by the firm, circa 1878. Value Points: the very rare "N" model, only appearing in this tiny size and with smiling expression, has most endearing air, original signed body, original dress, antique shoes, bonnet and undergarments; few examples are known to exist.
