13" (33 cm.) Solid domed bisque shoulderhead, blue glass enamel inset eyes, delicately painted lashes and brows, rose eye shadow, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the teeth, unique body construction with muslin midriff and upper arms and legs, and bisque shoulder plate, lower torso and hips, lower arms and lower legs, bisque bare feet, blonde mohair wig, antique lace baby dress. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Jules Steiner, a petite model of his taufling baby inspired by the Japanese Ichimatsu baby shown at the 1855 London Exposition. Value Points: very rare early doll with most appealing expression, wonderful all-original body, circa 1870.
