31" (79 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with pear-shaped facial modeling and very plump cheeks, almond-shaped blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading and great depth, dark eyeliner, delicately painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, widely arched feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined white space between the shaded and outlined lips, dimpled blushed chin, pierced blushed ears, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose- ball-jointed body with straight wrists, antique silk dress, undergarments, aqua cashmere woolen coat with cape having quilted lining and cutwork edging, silk cap, red leather shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Sch (head and derriere) 8 (head). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1882. Value Points: outstanding grand bebe from the illustrious firm with finest quality of pale bisque enhanced by rich painting, original body and body finish, splendid costume.
