Description
9" and 10" (23 and 26 cm.) Each is all hard-composition doll with swivel head, jointed arms, one piece body and legs in posed walking position, with sculpted hair in classic style, she with topknot and short bobbed curls, he with side- parted bobbed hair, each with glass googly eyes glancing at each other, chubby dimpled cheeks, each with sculpted painted costumes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: made in Japan for Ideal, circa 1916 according to early research by Gladys Hollander (reference attached); an identical set had an original paper label marked Ideal with Japanese lettering. Value Points: extremely rare set of googlies in wonderfully preserved condition.
