Description

17" (45 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, accented lips, brunette human hair over cork pate, blown kid body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Vtr. Clement, Solidite, Garante (green stamp on torso). Comments: Victor Pierre Clement who registered his unique doll body in 1866,just prior to the 1867 Universal Exposition in Paris, claiming these bodies were the "most beautiful, lightest and most rugged made to date". Value Points: in superb original condition, the rare poupee is preserved in its original box along with several original gowns; the box bearing the address "Monsieur le viconte de coustin aux Chateau de Sazeirat, Station de Marsac (Creuse)".
