Description
12" (30 cm.) Textured composition head with flanged neck, sculpted hair with topknot, large pointy ears, painted facial features with squinty angled eyes, upturned nose, angled brows, wide beaming smile, on original teddy-bear mohair body with excelsior filling. Condition: generally excellent, possible retouch to head. Comments: Horsman, circa 1911,the "Billiken Teddy Doll", capitalizing on the current teddy bear craze, was advertised in the 1910 Siegel-Cooper Catalog described as "nothing funnier made, brings joy to all". Value Points: rare model with wonderfully preserved teddy body.
