12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with rounded facial modeling, pale blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner encircles the eye sockets, delicately painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accented lips, pink pate, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden eight-loose-ball- jointed body with flat-cut derriere and straight wrists, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bte SGDG 3/0 (head) Sch (in shield, pate). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, their first bebe bearing the brevete mark of the firm, circa 1878. Value Points: captivating petite bebe with most endearing expression, lovely bisque and painting, original body with original finish, original signed pate, antique white pique costume, undergarments, black socks, leather shoes, included is miniature dog.
