A heavy board box with cover illustration of various French citizens in traditional costumes of their regions is decorated with additional scenes of coats of arms of those regions, surrounded by decorative paper border; the lid removes for access to various game pieces including nine heavy-board cards with images of folklore-costumed people from various regions, the name and capitol of the region, and its population at that time, along with wooden number buttons and other game pieces. The people shown on the cards are engraved illustrations with hand-tinted enhancements. The game was intended to teach children about the geography of France.
