Description
11" x 8" base. Three bisque-head dolls are arranged upon a wooden platform with lithographed paper designs. At the back are two larger dolls with wooden shapely torso, wire upper arms and legs, wooden lower arms and legs, wearing silk 18th century style costumes; in the front a small doll is posed upon a circular base, her arms extended and holding ribbons. When the porcelain handle is turned, music plays and the two larger dolls turns their heads side to side, and "play" the instruments they hold in their arms; the little doll in front twirls around and around, then pauses, then twirls again. Excellent condition, mechanism and music function well, original costumes somewhat frail. Germany, Zinner and Sohne, circa 1890.
