Description
2 1/4" (6 cm.) 3" x 12" box. A heavy cardboard box with decorative paper cover and lithographed scenes depicting village vignettes of the actual dolls (including bristle supports) contains within 11 wooden dolls with brightly painted costumes and facial features, loosely jointed legs, bristle supports, along with a wooden mallet. When placed upon a table and the mallet tapped, the dolls appear to dance. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: rare 19th century toy in superbly preserved original condition, the villagers representing five dancing couples and a fiddler.
